In her welcome address, Dr. Sarla Nirankari highlighted the commendable services of the NDRF during recent floods. She remarked, “In today’s times, we can forecast disasters before they strike, but their intensity and consequences remain unpredictable. The devastating floods were a result of human interference with nature, which caused rivers to take such a terrible form.”Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest SDM Jaspinder Singh Bhullar shared a real-life example of the floods in Gurdaspur. He emphasized that during such calamities, people remain emotionally attached to their homes, often refusing to leave despite imminent danger. He reminded everyone that “floods wait for no one.”Mr. Parminder Saini (District Guidance Counselor) stressed that human actions themselves are the primary cause of disasters. He expressed confidence that with the dedication of the younger generation, “India is poised to become the golden bird once again.”Inspector Jaswant Singh explained that the main objective of the workshop was to raise awareness among youth, so they can act responsibly and provide first aid in times of need.
